Ethical considerations in interactions between Healthcare professionals and Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Companies is a domain which has developed considerably over recent years.
Since its creation in 2006, Mdeon has concentrated on Scientific Events which take place over several days and which, therefore, require the granting of a Visa beforehand.
We do receive, however, many enquiries on a daily basis concerning other aspects relating to interactions between Healthcare professionals and the industry, particularly concerning premiums and benefits of negligible value, activities which do not require the granting of a visa and Fee for Scientific services. It is a fact that little documentation exists in this area and matters are left to individual interpretation.
Mdeon Member Associations of the Healthcare sector and Medical companies have decided that this grey area should now be clarified and have accordingly published a clear, concise document designed to guide the Healthcare professionals and the Industry to apply the legal and ethical considerations in relation to gifts, to Scientific Events not requiring a visa application and to Fee for Scientific services.
It gives us great pleasure, therefore, to inform you of the existence of three “Guidelines”:
- Guidelines relating to Premiums and Benefits of negligible value
- Guidelines relating to Scientific Events not requiring a Visa
- Guidelines relating to Fee for Scientific services
These guidelines were sent to the Federal Agency of Medicines and Health Products (FAMHP) and the said guidelines have been approved by the said Agency.
